Expressions of natural beauty require the finest materials. “California Glassart,” lustrous Mabe and freshwater pearls, fine silver (99.9%pure), sterling silver, and coral are some of my favorites. |
Tools My love for tools and recognition of the universality of personal adornment led me to choose jewelry as my medium of expression. All of the elements of my work are individually designed, then fabricated using my acetylene torch, jeweler’s saw, files, hammers, and stamps, some of which I have created myself. I find pleasure in my connection to the past. I enjoy working with these tools to form shapes and textures in metal and creating pieces with many of the same techniques used thousands of years ago.
Pearls and Corals Most of my pearls and corals come from the Hawaiian Islands where I find some of the most beautiful Mabe pearls I have seen. When combined, fine silver and pearls are especially suitable for weddings and evenings "on the town."
“California Glassart” “California Glassart” is the name I have chosen for the pieces I create using my kiln and a distinctive glass I found in a small art studio on the Northern California coast. I fell in love with the depth of color, the unique shapes, and the design possibilities presented by the individual pieces. Each time I open my kiln, I’m surprised and excited by the new possibilities I see in the pieces I have created.
Fine Silver Fine silver wire is 99.9% pure silver. This purity shows in a luster that resists tarnishing. Fine silver is softer than sterling silver and allows knitting and crocheting. My French Knit necklaces and bracelets are woven of fine silver using a primitive spool and pick. Crocheted and knitted collars, necklaces, and earrings made with traditional knitting needles and crochet hooks are adorned with pearls. Creating this delicate romantic bridal and evening wear is a joy for me.
